Next Step of Seminole is a collaborative effort of special needs parents and community members who want to ensure the future of individuals with Autism and other Intellectual Disabilities have a safe place to live. Our goal is for our community members to live as independently as possible. We are a 501(c)(3) organization.
What Makes us unique?
As the number of individuals with autism continues to grow exponentially, the need for communities like this will grow. Any autism organizations similar to Next Step of Seminole are an hour away, which would make visiting your loved one with autism on a regular basis very difficult. There are other similar programs in the Orlando area, however, they are meant to be transitional housing between the parents’ home and total independence. Next Step of Seminole is meant to be a long-term solution.
frequently asked questions
Residents who reside on the campus of Next Step will need to have some level of independence. There will be staff on campus to assist with day to day needs such as medications, supervision with personal care support and ensuring the safety of all residents. Parents will be able to provide a caregiver of their choosing at their expense. Individuals with severe behavioral issues or who may harm themselves or others will not be considered.
At this time, we have not worked out the details of funding. We are hoping to be able to accept the Med Waiver, as well as Section 8 housing vouchers. We will announce more as we learn more.
We hope to have Next Step of Seminole operational by 2028-2030.
